Improved with disease resistance against powdery mildew. A classic French heirloom variety that dates back to the late 1800's. It has a deep dark orange colour which always gets favourable comments in the field. Fruits can grow up to 20 pounds. The flesh can be pureed for soup, baked in muffins or hollowed out and used for a veggie bowl. The mature pumpkins can store a few months in a cool place. Our plants mature very well here on the farm. Maturity 85 days from transplant.
Tip: We start all our pumpkins in flats in May, then transplant out into warm garden soil. Transplanting helps to shave off a few weeks of growing time in the garden when seasons are short.
