Carob-St. John's Bread -seeds

Ceratonia siliqua commonly called the carob tree is hardy to 8b, not recommended to over winter outside in Canada but can make a lovely house plant and interesting garden project.

The edible pods are used as a chocolate substitute and a much easier plant to grow indoors than a chocolate tree. A forgiving plant which can take some drought and poor soil. It is safe for dogs when chocolate is not.

Scarify and soak seed for 24 hours prior to planting and place potted seeds in a warm sunny spot.
