Sweet Hickory -(seeds)

A rare species "Carya Glabra" that is not always available is native to Eastern Canada and U.S.

The nuts start ripening in September and have a maple like smell. It is an important wildlife food. Raw or roasted, it is a small but sweet nut and mature trees can be "tapped" for syrup!

We are seeing a surgency in nut tree varieties for Agro-forestry, permaculture, food forests and truffle growing in our northern hemisphere. 

Also called, pignut or swamp hickory therefore prefers river or stream areas, grow it with your paw paws.

Hardy to zone 4.

Limited quantity and not always available every year.
