Echinacea-Prairie Coneflower

There are many varieties of echinacea cone flowers, this species can be found on the Prairie grass savannahs. A drought tolerant perennial that can grow in zone 3.

Some herbalists prefer this variety for medicinal root qualities than the cultivated Purple Cone flower and it's petals are more narrow. An excellent wild species for medicinal, ornamental and cut flower. Pollinators love it!!!!

Start seeds early to transplant out to garden end of May and will flower the first year. A great variety to grow with so many applications. Hard to find this species in commercial seed production.
