Wild Plum-seeds (stones)

The seeds for this wild plum came from the South West coast of Newfoundland. It has a natural semi-dwarf habit. Seems to be disease resistant against most stone fruit diseases.

Ripens in late August in NFld. When the fruit ripens all at the same time, the tree turns a bright red! The plums do not drop, but hold for a few weeks.  The fruits can stay fresh in the refrigerator for at least 2 months.

The fruit has a very strong deep plum taste with aroma. Great for fresh eating and wine making. The old timers canned this plum in glass jars for a winter treat and used the syrup as a drizzle on ice cream.

Blooms in late spring, late enough so that the blooms do not freeze. Hardy!

Tip: The stones have been cold moist stratified for you in our fridge. The stones are small unlike modern plums.
