Burdock-Gobo

The root is a common vegetable in Japan called "Gobo". The plant is a biennial and will set seed in the 2nd year of growing. The root is harvested the first (1) year. The root is a wonderful blood purifier and pre-biotic for the gut, it is also one of the main ingredients in the famous Ojibwe anti-cancer formula now called Essiac®

Our neighbour digs the roots in late fall, dries them and stores for winter teas. Can also be used in the place of a cooked carrot or pickled.
