Tamarillo (Cyphomandra betacea), sometimes called the Tomato Tree originates in Peru, South America. It makes a very good houseplant and starts to fruit in 1.5-2 years from seed. A rewarding project.
We visited Ecuador and found these plants growing everywhere in containers.
Start seeds in a well drained soilless seed starting mix. Place in a warm sunny window to germinate with a temperature between 20C- 25C. Keep moist but not wet. Re-pot seedlings in separate containers to grow on.
It is not frost tolerant.
We also sell the "Yellow" variety as well.
