Buckwheat-Heritage (Organic) 1 pound

This variety is grown by the Amish and produces nectar for honeybees and pollinators.

Used as a microgreen/sprouts or flour.

Also, used as a green manure and cover crop which can scavenge unavailable phosphorus and make it readily available to garden vegetables that follow in rotation.

Over the years, newer varieties have been developed to improve seed set, meaning that the seed head matures all about the same time for better machine harvesting. Those same varieties may have the nectar producing genetics bred out of the variety,

We have just learned that Russia has put a ban on export of buckwheat and major crop loss in Canada. One commodity dealer is down 35 tonne on a single contract in fall 2021. This is the sign of the times that we find ourselves in... the Great Re-set.

On a more positive note, we had an awesome buckwheat seed crop in October. High quality and the chickens go mad over it!  Did you know that buckwheat can moderate blood sugar levels in humans?

Buckwheat is a cold sensitive plant, be sure to plant out after threat of frost in warm moist soil.  It is a fast-maturing plant, so underrated.

We have bulk quantities available.
