Wolf River is a heritage variety that was originally raised by seed in Quebec by William Springer in the 19th century. Huge fruit often weighing over 1 pound. Has a sweet tart flavour.
This apple has a marbled red & golden skin, crisp white flesh and used for baking or cooking.
Canadian Hardiness Zone: 3 & ripens late September to early October depending on your location. Hardy & vigorous
Soil type & location: Deep clay loam or sandy loam in a well drained site and sunny location
Growth Habits and Disease Resistance: Dependable yields. Grafted onto hardy dwarf rootstock. Resistant to canker, mildew, and very resistant to scab and cedar rust.
Pollination: Requires a pollinator of a different apple variety that blooms around the same time. This variety flowers mid spring.
Storage: Keeps a month when stored in cool AND humid conditions such as a cellar or refrigerator.
