Apple Tree-Dutchess

Dutchess is a Russian Heritage variety. One of the very few varieties that the "old timers" remember in this area as being the number one go to in apple trees for  hardiness, pest resistance, earliness and TASTE! 

 A low maintenance tree. The large fruit has crisp white and sweet flesh. Used for both fresh eating and cooking. The skin is yellow & striped red.

Canadian Hardiness Zone: 3  & ripens late summer depending on your location. Very hardy.

Soil type & location: Deep clay loam or sandy loam in a well drained site and sunny location

Growth Habits and Disease Resistance: Bred for the organic gardener with dependable yields. Grafted onto hardy dwarf rootstock.  Resistant to canker, mildew, and fire blight, and very resistant to scab and cedar rust. 

Pollination: Requires a pollinator of a different apple variety that blooms around the same time. This variety flowers mid spring. 

Storage: Keeps a couple of months when stored in cool AND humid conditions such as a cellar or refrigerator.
