Shagbark Hickory- nuts

The Shagbark hickory tree was once plentiful in our area but now extinct. Give this species lots of space to grow, can reach 100 feet! Produces edible sweet nuts in the fall, valuable as a timber, food for wildlife, and hickory aroma for smoking meat.

Hickories have both male and female flowers but produce better when 2 are planted in close proximity.

Plant in a well-drained site in full sun. Deep clay-loam soil. Lots of space.

The bark is quite shaggy looking, very distinct. Great early source of nectar for bees.

12.95 for 5 nuts.    Available October 2022
